An Overview On Automobile Engine Components

Automobile system is a complex machine so as its engine is a complex and robust architecture in itself. However, it is the most vital part of an automobile. There are a number of companies trying to build faster, reliable and powerful automobile engine while the race for becoming the best engine manufacturer is tight and the fight is toe-to-toe. An engine performs the most crucial job of the automobile system. Some of the common automobile components are engine block, piston, carburetor, crankshaft, etc.

While engine readily takes care of all essential processes it also maintains the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Any single erroneous condition in the engine can cause major catastrophe to the vehicle. This is necessary paradigm not to overlook even the trivial problems your engine is facing. Get it fixed before it cost you outrageous risk in terms of money as well as your life.

Below is the complete list of engine components:

1. Crankshaft: It is one of an important part of the engine which converts the up and down movement of the piston in rotatory motion. It’s shaft with one or more cranks. There are at least two bearings used one at the rear end and other at the front end. The increase in the bearing of crankshaft reduces distortion and vibration.

2. Flywheel: It is one of the heaviest and large metal components. It is attached to the back of the crankshaft. It is responsible for providing inertia to keep the crankshaft turning smoothly.

3. Carburetor: Carburetor is the heart of the engine. It controls the mixing of fuel with air for the internal combustion. It mixes the appropriate amount of fuel with the ratio of air.

4. Piston: Piston is a very vital component of the engine. It is partly hollow cylindrical part closed at one end and fitted with each of the engine cylinders. A piston has many uses and functionality. In case of 4 stroke engine crankshaft is responsible for pulling and pushing the piston, while in a compression stroke piston is moved by the explosion of the mixture of fuel and air.

5. Fuel pump: This device helps in injecting fuel to carburetor under pressure.

6. Engine valve: These valves are used to regulate the flow the mixture of air and fuel into the cylinder and also help in ejecting the exhaust gases after fuel combustion.

7. Engine Block: It is a metal casting that acts as the primary structure where all other parts of the engine are installed.

8. Engine belts: They are very flexible and used for connecting two or rotating piston or shafts. These belts are configured to work in coordination with wheels and axles.

9. Spark plug: It has two primary roles in automobile engine firstly it ignites the fuel-air chamber and removes the excess heat from that chamber.

10. Camshaft: It is a rotating tool used in piston engines. They are responsible for operating poppet valve.

As there are several other components help the engine to work out not listed here, just like the human body automobile engine also needs healthy exposure and maintenance for the long run. Always ensure its performance and reliability factors if you wish running it for a long time.
